Company History

Walter arrived from England 65 years ago with $15 in his pocket; few could have predicted the enormous success that would eventually become of WD Potato Limited. Upon arrival in Canada Walter began working a farm job that dealt primarily with cattle and grain but eventually moved on to growing potatoes on about 50 acres. By the time he had taken that land over, the area expanded to include a total of 1,400 acres. Walter started working for Crang Farms, when they decided to sell… Walter started his dream vision and bought the farm. From there he grew his dream to what it is today.

WD Potato Limited is a 3^rd generation family owned business that has a large storage and transportation facility situated on a 150 acre site located in the heart of New Tecumseth,Beeton Ontario. WD Potato Limited has been in the business of potatoes for more than 50 years. We have a great depth of knowledge and experience in growing, handling, storing and transporting potatoes for the chip processing industry in both the USA and Canada.

WD Potato Limited also operates a large refrigerated storage facility situated on 150 acres. WD Potato Limited has a great depth of knowledge and experience in growing, handling, storing and transporting potatoes for he chip processing industry in both Canada and the United States.

In 2000 WD Potato Limited expanded to Nova Scotia, WD operates a satellite facility in Kentville.

WD Potato Limited contracts potato supplies from a large grower base exceeding 70 growers through out the provinces of Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and PEI. WD Potato Limited contracts in excess of 400 million pounds of potatoes annually. Supplying major processors in bothCanada and the United States. WD Potato Limited procures 30 million pounds of proprietary and public seed potato varieties to ensure our growers receive the highest quality of seed for plannting.
